LIBERTYCON AFRICA 2026

DONALD JOSE

Donald Jose is the National Coordinator for African Students For Liberty Zimbabwe. He oversees local coordinators, leads strategic planning, approves national events, and represents SFL Zimbabwe at regional and global levels. His work with SFL has strengthened his advocacy for liberty, democracy, and youth leadership.

He is a final-year social work undergraduate student at Midlands State University School of Social Work. Donald is an emerging change catalyst committed to building a just, inclusive, and empowered society in Zimbabwe, Africa, and the whole world. He is driven by a deep interest in academia, youth empowerment, human rights advocacy, entrepreneurship, digital activism, and child protection. He believes that real change is created when knowledge is matched with action. With over three years of experience in the civic space, he has consistently worked with organizations that align with his vision of social justice, youth participation, and human dignity.

Donald is a trained Human Rights Defender under Amnesty International, where he serves as a volunteer advocating for human rights awareness and protection. He also works with the Zimbabwe Peace Project as a Human Rights Defender, where he investigates and reports cases of human rights violations. These experiences have shaped him into a confident and ethical advocate for justice and accountability.

He is also deeply committed to youth empowerment and ensuring that young people’s voices are heard. In 2025, he launched the Today’s Voices Podcast, a youth-focused platform that amplifies young people’s voices on issues affecting them. The podcast creates space for discussions on youth participation, politics, entrepreneurship, and policy advocacy, while connecting young people with decision-makers. Through this platform, Donald continues to advocate for the meaningful involvement of young people in decision-making at local, national, and global levels.

Through organizing workshops, dialogues, and podcast sessions on leadership, innovation, democracy, human rights activism, entrepreneurship, and youth participation, Donald Jose continues to create platforms where young people can learn, engage, and contribute solutions to critical social issues. His journey reflects tangible action, committed leadership, and a clear vision: empowering people, especially the youth, to become active agents of change in shaping a freer, fairer, and more humane society. His work demonstrates how digital tools can channel Gen Z activism into constructive civic participation.
