Radu Magdin is a global analyst, consultant, and trainer. He is the CEO of Smartlink Communications, a consultancy company with global outreach that helps political, business, and civil society leaders to have a better international image, influence and impact.
Radu deals with strategic communications power leadership and advises on campaigning, reforms delivery, global communications, and crisis management. He previously worked as an honorary advisor to the Romanian Prime Minister (2014-2015) and advised the Moldovan PM (2016-2017) on a range of strategic issues, from political strategy and communications to reforms implementation and external affairs. Radu, an advisor to Moldova’s President Maia Sandu since the end of 2020, is a NATO Emerging Leader with the Atlantic Council of the US (2014) and a yearly trainer to the Naumann Foundation’s “Liberalism vs Populism” Academy.
Radu is a natural storyteller, a member of the Forbes Business Council, and a widely quoted analyst by top-tier global media, such as the Financial Times, Associated Press, New York Times, the Economist, the Guardian, Bloomberg, Politico, Handelsblatt, TRT, L’Express, Storm Asia, among others. He periodically writes op-eds for Forbes Business Councils and Forbes Romania, Deutsche Welle, CEO World Magazine and other media on topics such as risk management, family business, and global politics.
On Africa, Radu has published region-specific op-eds in Africa.com, Forbes, AllAfrica, CEO World, among others. Radu has also participated as a moderator and speaker at regional events, such as Tunis Innovation in Politics.
Radu has a PhD on Resilience to Russian Information Operations and was a Visiting Professor at Romania’s National School of Political and Administrative Studies, teaching two courses with a special focus on great power competition and its impact on global players and communications.
